Primary Responsibilities
• To ensure that all operations under his/her direction are striving
to achieve excellent performance in the areas of safety, environment and
overall job quality.
• To maintain contact with clients with managers, regional
coordinators, inspectors, samplers and administrative staff as well as
with external departments such as QHSE
Reporting to Country General Manager
Specific responsibilities
• Coordinates the work of the inspectors on the field in accordance
with customers’ requirements, work process and in accordance with legal
regulations and concern for the timely delivery of reports
• Delegates and occasionally performs operational activities
(quantity determination inspections of ships, barges and pipeline
transfers of petroleum, petrochemical and chemical products)
• Responsibility for the proper storage of samples
• Manages time records
• Supervise and performs calculations and reports quantities transferred and performed full reconciliation of same.
• Makes sure that the team accurately completes all required reports and forms.
• Works in cooperation with client’s representatives, customs, vessel personnel, government agents and shore facility personnel to insure accurate results are achieved.
• Maintains regular communication with office staff with reference to job status, problems, concerns, etc.
• Maintains knowledge and adhere to the latest industry and client procedures and standards as provided by SGS.
• Individual must be dependable and reliable whose daily presence adds to the success of the Department.
• Provides guidance and training of Inspector Trainees.
• Operates to the highest standards of ethics, in accordance with the SGS Statement of Integrity.
• Drives a proactive HSE culture and assist with national HSE projects as required
• Forwards potential opportunities to the Business Manager as appropriate
• At all times, adopts a safe behaviour by exercising due regard for
the health and safety of SGS employees and clients, in line with SGS
policies and procedures
Desired Skills & Experience
Profile
• Post-secondary education (preferably in Chemical Engineering or related Technical Discipline)
• Five (5) or more year’s operational experience in an OGC or related product line.
• High level of written and verbal English
Skills
• Energy to motivate operational team to always deliver results.
• Capable of interacting with all levels of management, staff, suppliers and clients.
• Able to inspire and motivate a team toward a common goal.
• Acts quickly and decisively; willing to make tough calls and to hold difficult conversations where necessary.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure, while performing numerous projects concurrently with different deadlines.
• High tolerance for job pressure and extended hours.
• Proven time management skills and strong attention to detail
Additional information
• Valid driving license
• Ability to travel, sometimes at short notice
