Vacancies: Director, Internal Audit, Director Abuja Liaison

POSITION 1: Director, Internal Audit (DIA) – Ref: IC3
The focus of this role is to promote compliance, accountability and transparency in the management of the Institute’s affairs and ensure adequacy and effectiveness of internal control systems through regular audit of operational procedures and practices. The position reports to the Registrar/Chief Executive.
Key Accountabilities:
- Develops Internal Audit Programme/Annual Audit Plan and submits to executive management for review and approval
- plans and ensure the conduct of regular review and audit of processes, policies, procedures and operations to assess controls, operetaional efficiencies and compliance
- provide a Concies project Appraisal & Management Handbook
- Ensures prompt and effective collection of membership subscriptions
- Conducts assessment to eliminate waste/leakages and determine improvement solutions
- Develops investment and procurement policy documents in line with global best practices
- Collaborates with the IT Department to ensure that the Institute’s website serves as avenue for corporate advertisements to generate revenue
- Plans regular internal audits visits, performs audit tests, analyses results and reports findings to executive management with a view to identifying discrepancies and exceptions and proffering recommendations
- Ensures regular inventory checks are conducted on all stock control records
- Undertakes special investigations as requested by senior and executive management
- Provides advice on risk management and internal audit issues to management
- Liaises with external auditors and implements post audit recommendations
- Performs other duties as may be assigned
Sound grasps of controls, risk management, auditing and investigation with good numerical and analytical skills. The role also requires leadership, attention to details assertiveness skills, good communication skills and proficiency in the use of relevant auditing and accounting software. Integrity, strong presence that inspires confidence, ability to work under pressure and commitment to good corporate governance are also required for success in the role.
Education and Experience:
- B.Sc/HND in Accounting/Audit
- Post graduate degree or MBA
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACA or its acceptable equivalent)
- Minimum of fourteen (14) years relevant postgraduate work with at least five (5) must have been spent in a reputable professional audit firm and two (2) at senior management level
POSITION 2: Director Abuja Liaison (DAL) – Ref: IC4
- The role ensures adequate presence and representation of ICAN as well as engagement of relevant stakeholders in Northern Nigeria through effective alignment of the programmes and activities of the Secretariat in Lagos with those carried for the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and other states in the North.
The position reports to the Deputy Registrar (Admin Services).
Key Accountabilities
- Coordinates the execution of the Institute’s activities (for various public and private sector bodies) in the FCT and other states in the Northern part of the country in liaison with the Head Office Secretariat. Lagos
- Coordinates marketing of the Institute’s professional and ATSWA examinations in collaboration with Abuja District Society
- Provides the Institute with proper senior level representation at events/functions and on critical matters requiring the attention and presence of Institute
- Collaborates with leading organizations e.g.
- Fiscal Responsibility Commission, EFCC, ICPC etc to promote transparency and accountability in governance
- Provides effective administrative oversight of the operational activities of the Institute’s Secretariat in Abuja
- Supervises other liaison offices (i.e. Kaduna and Kano) in the North
- Explores actively opportunities to obtain information of importance to the Institute at the House of Assembly and other Government establishments
- Liaises with development agencies, diplomatic corps and educational development institutions such Federal Ministry of Education, NUC, NBTE, etc
- Good networking and social skills, confidence, diplomacy, good relationship management and communication skills with strong negotiation and management capacity. The role also demands good strategic orientation, demonstrated capacity to engage stakeholders and ability to work under pressure with knowledge of activities of government establishments/ other public institutions and the Institute operations.
- Minimum of good first degree
- M.Sc. or MBA will be an advantage
- Minimum of ten (10) years relevant post professional qualification experience
